Inspired by Out of the Darkness, Into The Light by Kevin Kern. This is my piece for TerraNuts August terrain challenge. Be sure to drop by the site.

This was mainly done as more atmospjere practice. Its done intentionaly at a 16:9 ratio for a more 'movie' feel to it. A fullscreen crop is avaiable upon request. Original is 4000x2200 rendered in 8 hours. Comments and Crits welcome. Full view to appreciate the widescreen effect better :D

looks totally other-worldly...awesome.

But if the world could remain within a frame Like a painting on a wall
Then I think we'd see the beauty then
We'd stand stand staring in awe at our still lives posed
like a bowl of oranges,Like a story told
By the fault-lines and the soil

If I were you I would re-render the image with ice-coat on all terrain.. That would definitely remind me of Lovecraft's Mountains of Madness

Also, did you use 16-bit precision for the render? The cliffsides to the left and right of the sun have some serious banding..
